Heavy Duty Mechanic

Weldco-Beales Manufacturing Ltd. (WBM) manufactures heavy equipment attachments and truck mounted cranes for the construction, forestry, mining and resource industries throughout Canada, U.S.A. and internationally.  Our manufacturing facility located in Edmonton, Alberta is currently recruiting a Heavy Duty Mechanic.  

The ideal candidate will be experienced with heavy duty attachments and mobile cranes to deliver quality workmanship to our customers. 

Working under the direction and supervision of the Service and Assembly Shop Foreman, your primary duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Interprets work orders and technical manuals
  • Checks heavy equipment, mobile cranes, and other heavy construction, logging and mining equipment for proper performance and to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Adjusts equipment and repairing or replacing defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Cleans, lubricates and performs other routine maintenance work on equipment
  • Services and assembles attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, tire manipulators, grapples, etc.
  • Performs repair work on heavy trucks if necessary
  • Attaches components
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair existing hydraulic systems
  • Assemble, install, and commission new hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair electrical systems


  • Alberta Journeyman Ticket in Heavy Duty Mechanic 
  • A minimum of 3 years of directly related experience
  • Previous experience with heavy equipment is an asset
  • Previous experience with mobile cranes is an asset
  • Good knowledge of all heavy equipment and power tools and their use and care
  • Analytical skills to identify simple problems and find a solution
  • Mechanically inclined 
  • Physically fit to perform work
